Rabat – Moroccan-French comedians Gad Elmaleh and Jamel Debbouze have made it to the list of the top 50 favorite personalities in France. The list was released on December 24 by French weekly newspaper, Le Journal Du Dimanche.The 2017’s list was headed by French Grammy Award-winning singer and songwriter Jean-Jacques Goldman. Elmaleh came eighth in the list, which makes him among the top 10 favorites.The top 10 personalities prefered by French citizens are: Goldman, Omar Sy (actor and comedian), Teddy Riner (Judoka), Dany Boon (filmmaker), Sophie Marceau (actress), Jean Reno (actor), Michel Cymes (doctor and TV presenter), Gad Elmaleh (humorist), Florent Pagny (singer) and Florence Foresti (comedian), respectively. Debbouze was placed 36th in the list. The list was mainly dominated by athletes, artists and media figures. French President Emmanuel Macron was among the few politicians to make the list, coming in the 34th position.Both Elmaleh and Debbouze have established themselves as the leading comedians in France, Morocco, and and at the international level.In November, global web-streaming network Netflix said that Elmaleh will lead the cast of his first original series, Huge in France, as well as an English language stand-up show.Elmaleh is one of the executive producer of his half-hour comedy web show, which is inspired by his life career. Elmaleh had already worked with Netflix in January 2017 with his stand-up special ‘Gad Gone Wild.’ Both his new eight-episode sitcom and stand-up show are scheduled to be released on 2018.Debbouze starred in many movies, including historical movie Days of Glory, which he co-produced in 2006. Debbouze inaugurated his comedy club in 2008, opening opportunities for amaetur stand-up comedians. Every year, Debbouze organizes comedy festival, ‘Marrakech de Rire,’ which gathers annually hundreds of stand-up fans.
