For the past two months, Finnish authorities have noticed an increased number of refugees coming from Russia. “There’s a flow, it’s not big, but potentially it’s quite big,” said Vesa Häkkinen, spokesman for the Finnish foreign ministry. He said that Russia normally tightly controls its frontier with Finland, “but it seems that the situation has somehow changed.”There is also growing friction over migrants elsewhere in Scandinavia, with Russia now blocking the return of asylum-seekers across its arctic border with Norway.More than 5,000 refugee claimants made their way across Russia and on to Norway last year. However, Norwegian authorities are now returning those who had been living in Russia, saying they do not meet the definition of asylum-seekers.The Russian foreign ministry told AFP on Friday that it was halting the return of migrants. Finland is threatening “harsher actions” along its border with Russia after accusing organized crime of being behind the rising number of asylum-seekers traveling across Russia to Finland, the country’s foreign minister said.“It seems that harsher actions … are necessary,” Foreign Minister Timo Soini told Finnish news broadcaster Yle. “We must put a stop to this illegal immigration and migration.”Speaking Friday in Lapland, Soini said that the increase in migrants showing up at the border is “a form of organized action” by people smugglers. “Everything points out to the fact that there is organized illegal immigration and that has to stop.”
The latest additions to the PEMA fleet are three-axle semi low-loaders for the transport of access platforms and construction equipment. The equipment comes with hydraulic folding ramps. The trailer’s low angle and galvanised, serrated steel grid makes it safer and easier to unload and load the machinery, says PEMA Truck & Trailer. According to PEMA, this acquisition brings the number of Nooteboom semi-trailers purchased by the company over the last few years to more than 100. The trailers are mainly three-axle and four-axle extendable Teletrailers and semi low-loaders. Some of the units supplied come with self-steering axles, while others have hydraulic power steering. www.nooteboom.comwww.pematruck-trailer.de
